Traditional Japanese AcuTherapy, also known as shonishin or teishin, is a classical form of acupuncture treatment developed for the most sensitive in the population: the elderly, the very sick and of course children.
AcuTherapy treats the ki, or qi, that runs along the surface of a child's skin and the fascia to effect change to the body. Most treatments last only a few minutes and are very relaxing for the child.
Does my child need to sit still for the treatment?
AcuTherapy can be performed while your child is playing, nursing, or being held by mom and dad. While many kids do end up wanting to lay down on a warm bed they definitely do not have to.
How many treatments will my child need?
Usually 3-4 treatments are enough for a child to get over most acute symptoms. However, if your child has been dealing with something for more than a month than it may take a few more treatments to get their body back into balance. Please call and ask for a free consultation to get a more accurate treatment plan for your child.
My baby is still a newborn. Can AcuTherapy help?
YES! AcuTherapy is extremely helpful for babies of all ages. A few of the many symptoms that babies can be treated for is: constipation, latching, growth, reflux, sleep problems, and immune function. Symptoms related to more serious predispositions can also be addressed through AcuTherapy.
Why is Bumblebee AcuTherapy different from other acupuncture clinics that offer pediatric care?
You wouldn't trust your child’s care to a western doctor that specializes in geriatrics right? The same is true for eastern medicine! Maya Suzuki, L.Ac. has over 10 years of pediatric experience in two countries and has 4 children of her own. She is also a teacher and translator of Japanese pediatrics and Japanese traditional acupuncture techniques. She knows acutely how important it is to get your child better with the least amount of western medical intervention.
